This famous hike starts at Areeiro Peak at an altitude of 1818m (5964ft) connecting to Pico Ruivo Peak which is the highest in Madeira at 1862m (6109ft).
On cloudly days or with passing fog it feels like walking in the clouds due to the cloud formation at these altitudes. Enjoy great views over Curral das Freiras (Also known as the Nun's Valley) and Ribeira da Fajã da Nogueira. After a quick snack break at the Ruivo's shelter house the hike continues down to Achada do Teixeira.
